About the Book
In 2017, Guide Dogs NSW/ACT reached an important milestone and so much has happened over the past 60 years since the organisation first opened its doors. During this time, Guide Dogs NSW/ACT has grown and changed to meet our clients’ needs, utilising changing technologies and more effective training techniques. Many people have contributed to the life-changing work of our organisation …. and everyone has their own story.
60 Tails is a compilation of some of those stories – some humorous, some serious, some entertaining and many extraordinary. This is a collection of short stories about people who were determined to walk confidently in the direction of their dreams and live the life they had imagined, often in the company of one of our amazing Guide Dogs.
It’s inspiring that over the years, the work of Guide Dogs NSW/ACT has expanded to include the breeding and training of Guide Dogs to assist people with sight loss and other projects that include treating people with early stage eye disease before they lose their sight.
While much has been achieved and should be recognised, there is still so much more to be done. Guide Dogs NSW/ACT will continue to grow and expand in many more ways to assist people who are vision impaired.
